REFLECTION ON THE MOVIE – 3 IDIOTS

My reflections on the three characters are as follows:

   1)      Rancho Shamaldas Chhanchad/Chhote/Phunsukh Wangdu

Rancho was an excellent student, I like him because of his attitude. He is an optimistic student, a student who do not fear of his future because he has the confidence in himself. He loves his friends and his studies as well. My favourite line of him is, “All is well”. Rancho have a soft heart and have a strong sympathy for everybody. He encourages his friends to look beyond the ordinary but soon earns the wrath of the college director Viru Sahasrabuddhe. His passion for learning leads him to excellence, a simple passion brings extraordinary things. Even when challenges seems not to be overcome, he still believes in himself and have faith in his friends.I believe I have the attitude of Rancho, being positive in life, it brings happiness and contentment. It doesn’t mean being positive that you just rely on your strength alone, you need someone also who will support you and give you strength through the journey of life. I also felt his philosophy in life, “All is well” means to me a lot, because it means living life to the fullest.

Learning to him is more than just the usual or the common mode of education. Learning comes with experience, and learning does not always come from the classroom. He learns from the challenges he face, experiences in life that make us grow more maturely. In learning, you should not limit yourself to a space allocated to you, but rather explore and go out from your shell. Make friends with everybody, explore new ideas and learn from mistakes.

I see determination from Rancho, and not all the rules in this world is going to be implemented as it is, but rather have more efficient solutions with wisdom. His determination touches my heart, in every situation, in every way, everyday, I observed him, he did not fail to impart his affection towards his friends. He is an inquisitive person, curious about things, but with such wisdom. Because he knows what he is doing and have the confidence to give advices to people around him.

He treasures friendship so much that he would die to save a friend, that is what a real friend is, to die for your friend! Even though they have misunderstandings but he manages to control their emotions and feelings towards each other.

He demonstrated the goodness of life. What you sow is what you reap, since he planted the right seed, he reaps the abundance from his sowing. In life, it is really applicable, and it happens. When we plant goodness, we harvest goodness, and we did not expect that harvest brings more than what you planted! Always be humble, as what Rancho is always, because humbleness will bring success also, it will lift you up and makes you fly.

   2)      Farhan Qureshi

This character reminds me that if you are willing to pursue your passion, then you will make a way that it will come true, as the saying goes, If there is a will there is a way.

First, I observed that Farhan did not actually like his course. He was obliged to take the course because only of the want of his father, for him to become an engineer. His passion was delayed for how many years, it took him many battles to win his passion. It took him determination to overcome the tides that turn his ship upside down.

He did not quit in his battle with his passion, I realized that sometimes, you must go through battles just to win the permission for your passion, but take note that it is only a permission, after winning the permission, the next thing is winning your passion. Winning your passion is by having also great friends that will lift you up and guide you, be at your side even if the darkness comes and never leave you.

Second he was weak at first, when no one guides you, no one teaches you, no one scolds you, you become dull. But Farhan on the other hand accepted all the pain, struggles and reprimands from their dean. And also his family, is a big contribution to his studies, his family supported him but not his passion, they were blind and insisted their passion instead to Farhan. They do not know that it chokes the vision of Farhan and slowly killing him. But thanks to Rancho, he gained confidence and courage to talk to his parents frankly about his passion, and that is photography.

Sometimes, you must risk your life to achieve your passion, swim across the sea of troubles but if you survive, then it is really meant to happen, it satisfies you and brings happiness, that is important.

   3)      Raju Rastogi

He is the best  friend also of Rancho Shamaldas Chhanchad and Farhan Qureshi and possess a different kind of attitude also.

First, I identified Raju came from a poor family with her mother as a retired school teacher and his father was paralyzed. I reflected his life and saw the good things. He is a practical student, the situation of their family maybe drives him to strive in his studies, but later realized that he treasured his friends so much that he risk his own life for their sake.

The feelings he showed are genuine, and strikes many of us. He was once did not trust himself, he concluded that he was weak, and no help at all. But his friends were there, always beside him, comforting him, imparting him with goodness and love.

Important thing here is that, poverty is not a hindrance to education, but rather a stepping stone to a successful life. Of course with the help of friends, teachers, and the good people surrounding you. Opportunity comes when you are in the pressure of life, time, money, and feelings. And being brave does not always mean that you will not cry, being brave means crying but yet continuing to strive for excellence.

Which one of them would I choose?

I would choose Rancho Shamaldas Chhanchad/Chhote/Phunsukh Wangdu among the three characters because his attitude touched me most. I learned a lot from him, by his words and by his actions. “Pursue excellence and success will follow”, I really liked this line because it reminds me well that whatever happens, excellence is the best choice. This line has a deep meaning and varies according to ones understanding, for me, if you follow success, it is like running in a race without no reason, but if you follow excellence, you follow the quality of life, its beauty, that is why success happens only if you love what you do. I recall Guy Kawasaki, he said, “Put meaning”, in coffee, you cannot taste its fullness if it lacks sugar, so, to taste the sweetness of the coffee, you must put your own mix or own style into it, to improve its quality. Because in life, you will never fully appreciate it if you are a pessimistic type of person, being an optimist on the other hand like Rancho brings positive results, as always, because positive plus positive equals positive and positive multiplied by positive is positive, so that’s it.

He has the capacity to change peoples lives, through his life he became a blessing to other people by helping them in times of troubles. This kind of attitude is not ordinary because it would require a strong heart and a strong mind to help others and have a soft heart. His approach in life encourages me to do also what he did, to be calm but smart, to be confident but alert, to be strong but easy, to be understanding, lovable, and I can’t enumerate all the values Rancho haave.

The power to love, not only in friends, but also to his girlfriend, even though Virus,  Pias’ father had a grudge against them. Still did not affects his feelings towards here and continuing to love her unconditionally. That is why Virus, father of Pia gave Rancho, the astronaut pen. I want to have that kind of pen too. That pen symbolises excellence and professionalism. Because of Rancho’s great deed, love for his fellowmen, he sow what he reap.

He became successful and that is what I am aiming for also. To be successful like Rancho, even if it is not a true story, but still it touched my heart and imparted a lesson within me. Be happy always, be kind to everyone, and always as it is, there is a time for everything.

All is well. :)
